What we Believe

What does the Bible say about what we believe?

We aim to explain our beliefs in more depth with verses and explanation. coming soon!

We believe that there is one God and He is the creator of the universe and as such is all powerful, all knowing and everywhere.

Genesis 1:1

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

1 Timothy 2:5

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

We believe in a triune Godhead. The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Three persons, but one God.

Genesis 1:26

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

God here is in plural ’elôhîym

Matthew 28:19

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

John Chapter 14:17-20

Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

1 Corinthians 12:4-6

Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.

The Bible although written by men is inspired by God. This is not the bible we know today but the original language in which God selected men to write down his words for the people.

2 Timothy 3:16

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

God is perfect and never changes so as the bible is the Word of God, it is as current now as it was when His Word was first put to parchment over two thousand years ago.

Matthew 5:48

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Psalms 100:5

For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting;

and his truth endureth to all generations.

We believe that when Adam and Eve fell short of the standard set out by God, sin and death entered the world and that God will one day judge the world and everyone in it because of its sinful nature. It is our sinful nature that separates us from God but God loves the sinner and not the sin.

Genesis 3:17-19

And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;

Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;

In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

Romans 5:12

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

John 3:19

And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

We believe that when the body dies the soul is eternal and lives on and so decisions made while alive will affect you after death.

We only have our time on earth to find salvation and after that it is too late.

Matthew 10:28

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Ecclesiastes 12:7

Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

We believe God’s judgement will be forever and those who haven’t found salvation will be judged not worthy to enter heaven and will instead be sentenced to hell for eternity.

Romans 3:23

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

We believe that God has given us His Word so that we can find the only way to salvation from His judgment to come. We read in His word that only through His only Son the Lord Jesus Christ we can find grace in his sight and escape our judgement.

John 3:16,17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Jesus Christ the only Son of God loved us enough to come down to earth to be born and live a sinless and perfect life among mankind.

1 Peter 2:21-24

For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Jesus Christ substituted himself on our behalf and bore God's judgment of sin on the cross and died for the sin of the world.

Hebrews 9:26-28

For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

Jesus Christ after dying on our behalf arose again the third day and therefore overturned the judgment of death for sin.

1 Corinthians 15:3-6

For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:

After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.

Jesus Christ is alive today and will one day come back to earth to claim those who have put their trust in Him; both dead and alive.

Romans chapter 10 verse 9

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Revelation 1:18

I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

Just because the Lord Jesus died for the sin of the world doesn’t automatically mean everyone is saved. Each and every one of us needs to believe and put our trust in Him in order to find salvation. Salvation cannot be forced but needs to be a freely made conscious decision by each individual to believe and put their trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:9

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

John 5:24

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

When we find salvation we are permanently indwelled by the Holy Spirit so that nothing can ever separate us from God again.

John 14:16-17

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Ephesians 1:13-14

In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Just as the Lord arose from the dead to new life, we too once saved are baptised through full immersion to symbolise a new life with Christ. It is not our baptism that saves us, it is our trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 6:4

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

This is the good news or gospel as it is known that we preach here at the hall. The good news is that there is a way of salvation from our Sin and the judgement to come. This message is free and open to all people, from every race, age, background and status.

Mark 16:15

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Luke 24:46-47

And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

So how do we know this is the only way God will let us into heaven?

Because He told us so in His Word!

John 14:6

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Acts 4:12

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

John 8:32

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

As it is through the Word of God that we learn of the way of salvation, it is also through the Word of God that we take instruction on day to day life and service for Him. We don’t do it out of a need for a religious repetition to maintain salvation but of a simple faith in following what he wants us to do.

2 Timothy 3:14-17

But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
